Here’s the latest information we have on George.

January 25, 2010

Here’s the latest information we have on George.

January 19th George was released from the therapy hospital
in Lombard and allowed to go home to continue recovering. He is
still under daily nurse care and has not been allowed to travel
other than required additional therapy sessions (outpatient).

Being back home does now allow him to be involved with the
daily league operations once again. I’m sure many have already
heard from him regarding league matters.

He continues to be grateful for all the well wishes and prayers
offered up by the league members. If things continue on there
current pace I am sure it is only time before you see George at a
rink attending a game or running the league meeting.

January 9, 2010

Here is the latest information we have on Director George Hayes
from his wife Karen.

On Thursday the7th George was moved from Elmhurst Hospital
to Lexington Square Rehab facility in Lombard IL. He will under go
a period of physical therapy to strengthen his surgically repaired
hip and treat his shoulder injury. He is making wonderful progress and looks (very much) forward to getting back home soon.

Again George and Karen continue to thank all of you for your cards, kind thoughts and well wishes.

On December 29th He had a successful surgery to replace the
area broken in his hip. Here are his wife Karen recent comments
to the board members.

Sunday January 3rd 2010

George is feeling much better today - a few scares along the way
but today was a good day.  All tests for heart problems, and blood clots are negative. The pneumonia is gone, the pain lightened up a
bit , he was able to get through a full session of  physical therapy
and he felt good enough to eat something.
Woopee we are on our way !!!!

Karen

If George continues to make forward progress they expect him
to leave the hospital soon and then spend some time
rehabilitating his hip at a therapy clinic.
Both George and Karen wish to thank all of you for your prayers,
and kind thoughts.

Subject: Director George Hayes – recent injuries.

On December 24th ISHL Director George Hayes sustained multiple injuries from a fall outside the home of his neighbor.

George broke a bone in his hip and injured his shoulder. The hip
will require surgery to replace the broken portion due to his age
and other medical complications that will not allow his injury to
heal on its own.

As of this writing the doctors have not been able to determine
the extent of the injuries to his right shoulder.

Complicating matters more during routine pre-surgery testing a possible blockage was discovered in his heart. Fortunately this
was not the case and he is now set for surgery on the 28th.

George is in Elmhurst Hospital.
That address is 200 Berteau Avenue Elmhurst, IL 60126

There is no current timetable for his release since any treatments
to his injuries might be set back by other complications.

At this time the league is still running as it was. Our light holiday schedule provides us some additional time to work out our strategy
to allow the day-to-day functions of the league to continue on.
Other board members will be taking various duties over while
George continues on the mend.

Our Varsity All-Star game will be played as scheduled. George will be on our minds if not there in person. But he also knows that the operations of the game are in good hands.

I know all of you join us in wishing George a speedy recovery.
